A Week in Regulation: Hilarious to Read if Not so Ugly

BBBLast week, medical professionals got $193,037,104 worth of new paperwork dropped on their heads by the Centers for Medicaid and Medicaid Services, according to the Competitive Enterprise Institute. (And yes, the regulators cited it right down to the dollar, yet did let on that there is “a substantial amount of uncertainty in these [cost] estimates.”)

This is just one of many entries in “CEI’s Battered Business Bureau: The Week In Regulation,” the D.C. think tank’s effort to profile just one week of new rules raining down from Washington onto the shops and professionals who work on Main Street. They note that 2013’s pace of new regulation means a fresh rule to follow is minted every 2 hours and 46 minutes. (So pay attention or you’ll get behind!)

The story they tell is both comical and tragic. Whole thing here.
